Role Description We're looking for an experienced backend engineer to join Ovanya and take meaningful ownership of backend systems across our product and government digitization projects.. The Backend Developer will be responsible for designing and building scalable backend solutions, maintaining system architecture, implementing APIs, and collaborating with front-end developers to integrate user-facing applications. The role also involves debugging and optimizing application performance, writing clean and efficient code, and ensuring application security and data protection. What You Will Be Doing • Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development • 4+ years of commercial backend development experience, with a senior track record • Deep expertise in either NestJS(Node JS) or .NET Core (C#) — strong command of either stack is valued equally • Proven experience designing and shipping production APIs (REST, WebSocket) • Strong proficiency with Docker and containerized deployment workflows • Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), caching (Redis), and system design principles • Ability to lead technical discussions, propose solutions independently, and own outcomes • Comfortable using AI tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as part of everyday development work. • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you work well across teams and can articulate technical decisions clearly • Familiarity with message queues, event-driven patterns, or microservices architecture Nice To Have • Experience integrating Firebase or similar real-time / backend-as-a-service platforms • Prior work on government, public sector, or large-scale data management systems We're a software agency working on projects that genuinely matter — from client product development to government digitization initiatives across the Kurdistan Region.
