About The Role We are looking for a Junior Backend developer to join our engineering team and help build, scale, and maintain the core systems powering Baly’s platform. In this role, you will work on backend services, APIs, and databases that support high-traffic applications used daily by customers, drivers, and partners. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, mobile engineers, product managers, and operations teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs • Build scalable, secure, and high-performance systems • Work with databases to store, retrieve, and manage application data efficiently • Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams to integrate backend services • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code • Debug, optimize, and improve existing backend systems • Ensure system reliability, performance, and data security • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical best practices Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) • Experience with at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Node.js, PHP, or Go • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs • Solid understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Preferred Skills • Experience with frameworks such as Django, Flask, Spring Boot, Express, or similar • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Experience with caching, background jobs, or message queues • Understanding of system design and scalability concepts • Experience working in production or high-traffic environments Why Join Us? • Work on real products used daily across Iraq • Be part of a fast-growing tech company with real impact • Learn, grow, and take ownership in a strong engineering team • Collaborate with talented professionals across multiple functions
