Baghdad, Iraq – On-site (Flexible) Role Overview We are hiring a Software Engineering Team Lead who hands-on and operational. This role requires direct involvement in production systems, ownership of technical issues, and the ability to guide the team through real problem-solving, not just delivery tracking. You will be responsible for maintaining system reliability, improving code quality, and ensuring the team follows solid engineering practices while delivering fintech-grade systems. Key Responsibilities • Lead a development team with direct technical involvement (hands-on coding, debugging, and reviews) • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and drive resolution across systems • Own system stability and support the team in handling incidents and escalations • Enforce coding standards, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices • Review and improve code quality, performance, and maintainability • Guide developers in problem-solving, system thinking, and structured debugging • Work closely with operations and infrastructure teams to ensure system health • Ensure proper logging, monitoring, and observability are in place • Manage delivery timelines while maintaining technical integrity of solutions Required Qualifications • Strong backend development experience (preferably .NET or similar stack) • Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems, and debugging in production environments • Proven ability to investigate complex issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers • Experience leading a development team with active technical contribution • Strong understanding of code quality practices (code reviews, refactoring, clean architecture) • Experience working with APIs, databases, and real-time systems • Ability to work under pressure during incidents and make clear technical decisions
